IRF Supports Victims of Rape

April 19, 2016

The International Rabbinic Fellowship, a fellowship of over two hundred Modern-Orthodox rabbis, clergy, communal scholars, and spiritual leaders expresses its steadfast support for victims of rape, no matter where the rape was committed; on campus or in any other public space, or in the sanctity of the marital home.

The emotional, spiritual and physical devastation rape brings to its victims does not heal easily. The healing process is only harmed further when rape victims are not believed and communal leaders do not acknowledge the existence of sexual abuse within our communities.

We commit to stand with the victims in word and deed and display sensitivity and compassion in our choice of language. We also commit to learn from mental health professionals on how we can provide better support for victims and prevent all forms of sexual assault in our shuls, schools, and communities.
