IRF Releases Statement on the "Price-Tag" Phenomenon
October 3, 2011
The International Rabbinic Fellowship, an organization of Modern-Orthodox rabbis, strongly condemns the acts of violence directed against soldiers and institutions of the IDF and Arab residents of Judea, Samaria and the Galilee, their property and houses of worship under the rubric of a policy of “price tag” and revenge.
These acts are contrary to Halakha, Jewish ethics, Israeli law and natural morality. In addition, they constitute an act of desecration of God’s holy name and endanger the welfare of Jews throughout the land of Israel as a whole and the standing of the State of Israel.
We fully concur with the statements of the respected heads of Yeshivat Har Etzion, Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein, and Rabbi Yaacov Medan who publicly declared last week: “We condemn the acts referred to as 'price tag' against the IDF, against mosques and against innocent Arabs... We support the IDF in its activities against the criminal lawlessness undermining the foundation of our existence here… We call on every person, especially the residents of Judea and Samaria, to do all they can to prevent such actions and deliver any information which could thwart 'price tag' activities to the councils' security officers.”
