IRF mourns Rabbi Menachem Froman, zt”l

March 5, 2013

The International Rabbinic Fellowship notes with great sadness the passing of Rabbi Menacham Froman after a long and heroic battle with cancer.

It extends its condolences to his family, students and friends. Rabbi Froman was the beloved rabbi of the Jewish community of Tekoa in Judea on the West Bank. A student of Rabbi Tzvi Yehuda Kook, he inspired many through his Torah, which wedded classical Religious Zionism with Hasidism, and through his devotion to dialogue and engagement between members of many different factions in the Israeli Jewish community. He was also known for his loving insistence on dialogue and sharing between Jews and Muslims in the Holy Land. Up until the end of his life he was engaged in high level conversations about how to engage in a different kind of peace process, one that would highlight the religious dimensions of the conflict and ultimately of our ability to live together.
