IRF Mourns Moreinu Rav Aharon Lichtenstein, zt”l

April 20, 2015

The International Rabbinic Fellowship, together with the whole house of Israel, expresses its deep pain and sadness on the passing of Moreinu Verabeinu, Rabbi Aharon Lichtenstein zt"l. R. Lichtenstein, one of the gedolei hador, Torah leaders of the generation, bestrode our world like a colossus for over half a century of teaching, leadership, and moral guidance.

R. Lichtenstein was a paragon of passionate commitment to Torah study, teaching and values, deep rooted piety and striving for holiness, ethical virtuosity, engagement with the world and its ideas, Modern Orthodoxy, Religious Zionism and concern for the Jewish people and mankind as a whole. He leaves behind a legacy of thousands of students, Torah scholarship and a Jewish world which he impacted in the most profound ways.

May his wife, Dr. Tovah Lichtenstein, and their six children, be comforted among the mourners of Zion and Jerusalem.
