David Wolkenfeld

David Wolkenfeld is rabbi of Anshe Sholom B’nai Israel Congregation, a dynamic and diverse community located in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood. He was ordained by YCT Rabbinical School in New York and by Rabbi Shear Yashuv Cohen and Rabbi Zalman Nechemiah Goldberg in Israel. He has a BA in Intellectual History from Harvard University and completed graduate coursework in Medieval Jewish History at Yeshiva University. David was also a student at Yeshivat Hamivtar and Yeshivat Har Etzion in Gush Etzion. He is an alumnus of both the Wexner Graduate and Bronfman Youth Fellowship programs.

David currently serves on the executive committee of the Rabbinical Council of America and is an officer of the International Rabbinic Fellowship. In his teaching and writing, he has strived to articulate a progressive vision for Modern Orthodoxy that preserves a profound religious and social connection to the broader Orthodox world.

From 2008 – 2013 David, together with his wife Sara, directed the Orthodox Union’s Jewish Learning Initiative on Campus (JLIC) program at Princeton University.
